RuneScape’s Next Plugin Batch Is Set for November 5

Jagex says the next batch of RuneScape plugins is expected to arrive on November 5, following last week’s launch of the new plugin system. After that, the studio is aiming for a two-week moderation and release cycle, with new plugins grouped into batches rather than pushed out one by one.

The plan is to pick a batch in the first week, notify community developers, review code quality and guideline compliance, then use the second week for fixes, stability checks, and a targeted Thursday release. Hotfixes and updates for plugins that are already live won’t necessarily wait for that schedule.

Jagex says it currently has more than 250 plugins in draft and more than 200 waiting for moderation, so the first few batches are being handled carefully. Early submissions, community demand, and how easy a plugin is to review will all affect priority. Smaller, well-documented plugins may move faster, while larger tools will take longer.

For the next round, Jagex is prioritizing several “staple” plugins players have been asking for, including Ground Items and G.E Price Library, Farming and PoF Timer, True Tile, Highlighter, Agility Helper, Perk Calc, Watchdog, Drop Log, and Unified Log. The studio stopped short of guaranteeing any of them for November 5, since each still has to pass review.

One notable absence is Clue Trainer. Jagex says it’s in touch with developer Zyklop, but the plugin isn’t ready for formal submission yet. Moderation can’t begin until that happens, so there’s no approval window for it right now.

Plugins still require mod.io email authentication for the time being. Jagex eventually plans to move that process to Jagex Single Sign-On, while continuing to use mod.io for hosting and distribution. The team is also looking into email compatibility problems, including addresses with a plus sign.

Mobile support is planned, but there’s no date yet. Jagex says the goal is parity with desktop.

Outside of plugins, this week’s RuneScape notes include a hotfix for players who were owed a pink Halloween mask, a new bank filter for MTX items scheduled to be removed or changed, and a reminder that the RuneMetrics web API is due to be fully sunset on November 10.
