RuneScape’s early-game rebalance lands Feb. 16, with big DailyScape cuts coming in March

Jagex is pushing ahead with its “Road to Restoration” plans for RuneScape, starting with an early-game rebalance that’s set to go live on February 16. Not far behind, the studio is also lining up a wider DailyScape overhaul in March that will slow down or remove a bunch of daily-driven activities.

The February update is aimed at smoothing out early progression, where the team says the experience can feel inconsistent, slow, or overly restrictive. Jagex says the work is nearly finished, and it’ll include tweaks to early activities, some quest changes, and a notable itemization shift: salvage is being replaced with gear to better fit the early-game flow. The studio’s developer blog goes into the full list of adjustments.

March is where things get more disruptive. Jagex is targeting DailyScape because it thinks dailies have turned into a checklist that pressures people to log in, and because the rewards can be strong enough to skip big chunks of the game. The team also points to knock-on effects, like skipped skilling content impacting supply and prices in the game’s economy.

Some daily activities are being stretched out or gated differently. For example, Guthixian Caches will no longer open every hour, and shop runs will take seven days to complete. XP from several dailies is being rebalanced, some “once a day” rewards will shift to weekly or even less frequent payouts, and a few daily caps will be removed entirely.

Jagex also says several familiar DailyScape staples are being removed, including daily challenges, Wilderness flash events, the Motherlode Maw, the Rune Goldberg Machine, and the Travelling Merchant. More specifics are in the full DailyScape blog.
