NC America brings in ex-Amazon Games exec Mervin Lee Kwai to help lead Aion 2’s western publishing

NC America has hired Mervin Lee Kwai as its new Vice President of Operations for North America. The company says he’ll be helping lead its western publishing efforts as it ramps up for Aion 2 and other NCSOFT releases.

Lee Kwai most recently worked at Amazon Games as a regional franchise lead, and he’s been in the industry for more than 20 years. His resume includes time at Sony Online Entertainment and Trion Worlds, and more recently he was involved with Throne & Liberty, which Amazon published in the West.

NC America’s CEO Jeonghee “JJ” Jin pointed to Lee Kwai’s MMO background as a big reason for the hire, while Lee Kwai said he’s looking forward to helping launch NCSOFT’s upcoming titles, starting with Aion 2.

There’s still no confirmed western release date for Aion 2. The game has already launched in parts of Asia, though, and NC America’s new hire is a pretty clear sign the publisher is continuing to build out the team that’ll handle the game’s eventual push into North America and other western regions.
