RuneScape’s aura overhaul is live, with perks moved into skills and gear

Jagex has now fully rolled out RuneScape’s aura overhaul, finishing a broader cleanup that started with Combat Modernization. The big change is simple: a lot of aura bonuses have been removed as activatable effects and folded into permanent progression systems instead.

According to the patch notes, several familiar aura perks now come from skills, tools, or other unlocks. Greenfingers is one example. Its old farming yield bonus has been moved into the Farming skill, and players who had already reached Master Greenfingers get that benefit unlocked automatically.

That same approach shows up elsewhere. Tracker’s old Hunter bonus has effectively been replaced by earlier rebalancing that improved trapping and tracking rates for various animals. Call of the Sea’s fishing boost has been spread across fishing tools and items, while Lumberjack’s woodcutting bonus is now tied to your axe instead of an aura slot.

The overall idea is to make these bonuses part of normal account progression rather than something players have to activate and manage. Jagex had already said auras no longer fit the game’s current direction, and this update is the final step in that shift.

The patch also brings RuneScape’s April Marketplace drop. This month’s featured items include a Skullhide outfit and matching weapons, alongside the usual stock refresh.

If you’ve been away for a bit, this is part of Jagex’s ongoing Road to Restoration work, which has focused on reworking older systems and trimming mechanics the studio says were adding friction. For players logging in now, the practical takeaway is that some old aura effects haven’t vanished outright, but you may need to look for them in skills, equipment, or existing unlocks instead.
