RuneScape Shows Off Work-In-Progress Goblin Visual Update
Jagex has shared an early look at RuneScape’s upcoming goblin visual refresh, with updated models for familiar goblin characters, gear, hats, and weapons. The work is still in progress, so there’s no release date attached yet, but the studio is already asking players for feedback.
The preview focuses on making goblins look more consistent across the game while keeping their odd, scrappy personality intact. According to the official post, the team is leaning more on shared components and modular design so future model work is easier to maintain without making every goblin feel identical.
One notable change is posture. Jagex says male and female goblins are meant to be indistinguishable to non-goblins in RuneScape lore, so the newer designs bring their silhouettes closer together. The update also pushes the “found object” look harder, with more bits of scavenged junk worked into goblin clothing and equipment.
The examples shown include work-in-progress versions of General Wartface and Nostrillia, plus updated hats and weapons. It’s part of RuneScape’s broader visual modernization push, following the recent player avatar overhaul and other area touch-ups like Waterbirth Island.
For now, this is a preview rather than a finished update. Jagex says it wants player thoughts on the direction before the goblin refresh is finalized.
