RuneScape Reignited starts fresh on December 2 with a separate economy
Jagex has announced RuneScape Reignited, a new permanent character type launching December 2. The pitch is simple: a fresh start inside modern RuneScape, with a new economy, new hiscores, and no paid progression items for Reignited characters.
Reignited characters will play in the same broader game as existing characters, but they won’t fully mix economically. Veteran and Reignited characters can share chat, clans, and homestead access, but they can’t trade with each other. Reignited will also have its own Grand Exchange, boss instances, and dedicated worlds.
- Reignited characters cannot be converted into Veteran characters, or the other way around.
- Reignited requires its own membership, though Reignited characters get free members-world access from December 2 through December 12.
- Paid progression is out for Reignited. Cosmetic marketplace overrides are allowed, but Radiant stars won’t be available.
- Gold swapping into or out of Reignited will be prohibited, with anti-cheat improvements planned before launch.
Jagex is framing Reignited as a new shared starting point after a year of major RuneScape restoration work, including changes to Dailyscape, Auras, MTX items, Dungeoneering, player avatars, Player-Owned Houses, and the Grand Exchange. It’s not a separate version of the game like Old School RuneScape, but more of a locked-off character lane inside the current RuneScape ecosystem.
The launch will also bring the Adventure Guide and the next step in RuneScape’s remastering work. A same-day 2027 roadmap also outlines plans for the RS Plugin Beta on October 6, plus next year’s Hoard of Dragons, City of Gnomes, and Secrets of Karamja content arcs.
There’s a competitive angle too. Reignited will reset world-first achievement opportunities, and players who earn them can be represented by permanent statues in the Hall of Legends.
