RuneScape Overhauls Player-Owned Housing and Raises Construction to 120
RuneScape’s long-awaited player-owned housing rework is live today, July 13, giving players a much bigger toolkit for building and customizing their homes in Gielinor. The update is part of Jagex’s 25th Anniversary Road to Restoration rollout and includes a full Construction skill overhaul, with the cap now raised to level 120.
The headline change is control. Houses now support freer room layouts, free furniture placement, more visual customization, and shared Homesteads for small groups of players. Instead of just building a functional stop between activities, players can now set up a home with displays, utilities, storage, and community features that actually reflect what they’ve done in the game.
- Construction now goes to level 120, with a new progression system, furniture crafting, new recipes, room layouts, house styles, utility upgrades, and prestige rewards.
- Homes can use more than 650 decorative items, five house styles, customizable floors and interiors, furniture skins, music options, weather control, and visual plot surroundings.
- Homesteads let up to five players form a shared neighborhood, visit each other’s houses, and use facilities built by other members.
- New display options include boss trophies, weapon displays, Archaeology finds, achievement logs, skillcape stands, and a dedicated cape stand.
- Utility additions include the Teleport Nexus, Jewelry Box, Player Owned Ports Access Table, Dungeoneering Monolith, cauldrons, repair stands, Gilded Altars, and storage for costumes, toys, armor, pets, capes, and more.
The update also adds more skilling support inside player homes, including new lecterns and expanded lecterns for tablet creation. Jagex says furniture can now be crafted directly for use in housing, with both active and passive training styles available.
For long-time RuneScape players, this is one of the more substantial updates to a legacy system in a while. Player-owned houses have been around for years, but this rework pushes them closer to a proper personal hub rather than a set of rooms built around a few practical unlocks.
