RuneScape launches new Platform API and adds another batch of official plugins

Jagex has rolled out the new RuneScape Platform API, giving community developers a more formal way to pull RuneScape data for websites, Hiscores tools, progression trackers, and Discord bots. It’s meant to replace older, less consistent systems that many community tools have relied on for years.

The big date for developers is November 10, 2026. That’s when the legacy RuneMetrics API will be retired, so anyone running a site, bot, or other project that still depends on it will need to move over to the new API before then. Jagex says this is an early step rather than a finished endpoint for every possible use case, and it’s asking developers to use the new documentation and migration guide while giving feedback.

Jagex also released the second batch of official RuneScape Plugin Hub plugins on November 5. The batch includes 13 new plugins, plus supporting dependency plugins that help other plugins function in the background.

  • Farming Timer tracks farming patches and Player Owned Farm animals, including ready times, alerts, Grand Exchange values, and nearby teleports.
  • Unified Logs pulls progression, collection logs, and achievements into one searchable interface. Jagex says this doesn’t replace its planned official Unified Collection Log, which was announced at RuneFest.
  • Ground Items uses a Grand Exchange price library dependency plugin to help show item values.
  • Other additions include Drop Log, Perk Calc, Agility Helper, Highlighter, True Tile, Watchdog, Upkeeps, Combat Recorder, WikiSync, and Museum Quiz.

There are a couple of launch issues to watch for. Jagex says some new plugins may not show up in the Plugin Hub’s Browse view due to caching, though they should appear through search. The team is also investigating plugin-related crashes. The suggested workaround is to delete the folders in C:\ProgramData\Jagex\RuneScape\plugins on Windows, or the plugins folder in the Jagex cache on other systems, then reinstall the plugins. Saved plugin settings should remain intact.

Some plugins also need permissions enabled through the Plugin Hub’s padlock icon before they can be turned on.
