RuneScape Animated Series in Early Development With Jagex and MoistCr1TiKaL

Jagex is working with Lyrical Animation and Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White on an animated series based on RuneScape. The project was announced at RuneFest in Birmingham, UK, following the Old School RuneScape keynote.

It’s still early days. Jagex says more details will be shared in 2027, so there’s no release window, cast, platform, or story synopsis yet. Lyrical Animation will produce the series alongside White’s Meatier Productions.

The show is planned as a screen adaptation of Gielinor, RuneScape’s long-running fantasy world. Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy framed the project as part of a broader push to take RuneScape beyond games, though the announcement stopped short of saying whether the series will adapt existing quests, characters, or an original story.

White is a longtime RuneScape player and one of the bigger gaming creators online, best known for his MoistCr1TiKaL and penguinz0 channels. His involvement follows another Lyrical Animation project, Godslap, a 2D animated feature based on his comic that’s currently targeting 2028.

RuneScape first launched in 2001 and has since grown into a wider franchise that includes RuneScape, Old School RuneScape, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds. For now, fans mostly have a confirmation that an animated series is being explored, with the real details still a year away.
