Reign of Guilds is merging all servers into one as the dev team drops to two

Reign of Guilds is consolidating its player base into a single server. The game’s NA, EU, and CIS servers are set to merge on Wednesday, April 22 during scheduled maintenance, according to the team’s Discord announcement. The developers also said plans to open a new server have been put on hold.

That news comes with another cutback. Atlant Games says the active team on the PvP MMO is now down to just two developers as the studio tries to reach “self-sufficiency.” Even so, the remaining team says development will continue, with another update still planned for later this week.

The timing isn’t great, but it’s not totally out of nowhere. Reign of Guilds launched in early access in 2024 and later reached 1.0, but the project has had a rough run since then. At the end of March, the head of Atlant Games said in a Steam post that he was stepping away from the project entirely, citing exhaustion and regret over how things played out.

As for what’s next, the upcoming patch is expected to focus on balance and UI changes. The team also mentioned future work on anti-cheat, quest adjustments, simplification of some mechanics, and reducing what it called the game’s “artificial difficulty.”

Reign of Guilds is a hardcore medieval PvP sandbox MMORPG, and server merges like this usually point to a shrinking active population. Whether the single-server setup helps stabilize matchmaking and the in-game economy is still unclear, but for current players, the immediate change is simple: one server, starting April 22.
