Rainbow Six Siege names Joshua Mills as creative director at Ubisoft Montréal
Ubisoft Montréal has a new creative director on Rainbow Six Siege. Joshua Mills is taking over the role from Alexander Karpazis, according to a new round-up of industry appointments.
Mills has been on Siege for a few years already. He joined the team in 2022 as associate game director, moved up to game director in 2024, and now steps into the creative director seat. Siege is one of Ubisoft’s most successful games of all time, routinely hitting over 75,000 concurrent players on Steam.
Before Siege, Mills joined Ubisoft Montréal in 2015 as a senior level designer on Watch Dogs 2. He later became lead level designer on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and also worked on an unannounced project starting in 2019. Earlier in his career, he spent four years at Compulsion Games in level and game design roles.
Karpazis said the handoff has been in the works for over a year, suggesting this is a planned transition rather than a sudden shakeup. Mills, meanwhile, framed it as the next step after representing the game for the past several years.
Ubisoft didn’t announce any specific gameplay changes or a new direction for Siege alongside the leadership change. For players, it’s mostly a notable behind-the-scenes switch on a live service shooter that’s been running for years and still gets regular seasons and updates.
