Pocketpair files trademark applications for new Palworld-related names in Japan
Pocketpair appears to be laying more groundwork around Palworld. The studio has filed trademark applications in Japan for a handful of names tied to the game, suggesting it may be expanding the brand beyond the survival hit itself.
The filings were spotted this week and include several Palworld-related terms, though trademark applications on their own don’t confirm specific games, updates, or spin-offs. They do, however, show Pocketpair is trying to lock down more of the naming around its breakout franchise.
That lines up with what the studio has looked like since Palworld took off earlier this year. Before that, Pocketpair was already known for bouncing between very different projects, and Palworld’s success has only made the company more visible. Filing trademarks is a pretty normal step when a studio wants to protect names it may use for future content, merchandise, or other media.
For now, that’s really the key point: Pocketpair has filed the paperwork, but it hasn’t announced what any of these names are for. Until the studio says more, it’s safest to treat this as early brand protection rather than confirmation of a new Palworld game or major feature.
