PlanetSide 2 devs are asking if the community wants an official Discord
PlanetSide 2 developer Rogue Planet Games is floating the idea of shifting community discussion away from the game’s official forums and into an official Discord. Nothing’s decided yet. The studio says it’s checking interest first, and it’s currently collecting feedback in a thread on the Daybreak forums.
According to the forum discussion post, the push is largely coming from ongoing forum loading issues. Those problems have been around since at least last month and, based on the studio’s messaging, still aren’t fully resolved.
One big catch: if the community fully moves over, Rogue Planet suggests the forum history would effectively be left behind, with no guarantee it’ll remain accessible in the future. That’s a sticking point for players who rely on old guides, dev replies, and long-running discussion threads.
The timing is also part of the debate. Some players are fine with Discord becoming the main hub, while others point out that Discord’s upcoming age verification plans have been a sore spot lately. There’s also already an existing community-run PlanetSide 2 Discord, so the question is whether an official server would replace the forums, supplement them, or just split the conversation further.
Rogue Planet hasn’t shared a deadline for feedback or any timeline for what happens next. If you’ve got an opinion, the studio is still actively watching replies in that forum thread.
It’s PlanetSide 2 hasn’t made the jump to Discord yet like most other gaming communities. Forums have long been dead for most gaming communities.
