Pax Dei adds dueling in new patch, with resource spawn changes now on the test server

Pax Dei’s latest patch adds a straightforward new feature: dueling. Players can now challenge each other to 1v1 fights either through a slash command or the context menu, according to the patch notes.

Duels are capped at 10 minutes and have to stay within a set area. One notable wrinkle is that other players can heal or buff a duelist without entering the fight themselves, which Mainframe says is meant to help people practice support roles. Clanmates can duel each other too.

The same update also includes a batch of smaller improvements across the rest of the sandbox MMO. Mainframe says it has made map changes, building system optimizations, added new graphics presets, expanded UI scaling options, and adjusted how materials are recovered after failed crafting attempts.

Separately, the studio is still working on one of the bigger complaints around gathering. In a recent developer post, Mainframe said each update currently reshuffles the algorithms behind resource spawn locations. The team is testing changes that should make those spots more consistent over time, and that version is available on the public test server.

Pax Dei is a social sandbox MMORPG with a heavy focus on building, crafting, and player-driven settlement building, so both dueling and more stable resource spawns hit parts of the game players interact with a lot. The patch is live now, while the gathering changes are still being tested.
