Path of Exile’s Mirage league lands March 6 with big endgame and Atlas changes

Grinding Gear Games is rolling out the next major Path of Exile update on Friday, March 6. It’s called Mirage, and it’s heavily aimed at endgame players, with a new challenge league plus a bunch of Atlas-focused changes. Details are up on the official Mirage page.

The headline addition is the Mirage league itself. The core loop has you dealing with djinn that have been trapped, then stepping into an “imperfect copy” of the nearby area to break their chains. Clearing the league content pays out new coins, which you can use for crafting new gems or converting unique items into a stronger Maraketh version. There’s also a chance to reach the league’s final boss for higher-end drops.

Outside the league mechanic, Mirage looks like it’s doing a lot of work on the Atlas. GGG says map items will be less tied to specific areas, and you’ll be able to turn parts of the Atlas into a “shaped region” that influences nearby maps with new modifiers and reward chances.

One notable cut: T17 maps are being removed. Their bosses aren’t going away entirely, though, since GGG says they’ll still be available for targeted farming.

Mirage also brings new holy skill gems, more than 40 new support gems, and a new reliquarian Ascendancy for the Scion. If you want the full list of changes, GGG has posted the patch notes ahead of launch.
