Palia’s Toadstool Tales update wraps up the Elderwood story arc

Palia got a new update today, and it looks like a setup for the game’s spring expansion while also closing the book on an older storyline. The patch, called Toadstool Tales, sends players back to Elderwood for the final chapter of that story arc.

According to the official post, players will return to the Zendruu Tree to help heal the forest, dig into the Umbraan legacy, and learn more about the Beast of the Woods. Singularity 6 is also adding new puzzles and a few rewards tied to the storyline, including a Zendruu Tree nameplate and the ability to keep a Wolpunny on your ranch.

Outside the main story, the update adds more of Ulfe’s friendship questline, which is folded into the Elderwood content. There’s also a new Lunar Path, more bulletin board quests, and improvements to camera mode.

A limited-time fishing and hunting event is live as part of the patch, and there are a few lifestyle-style additions too. Players can now retire animals instead of getting rid of them entirely, which lets them keep those critters permanently. The update also adds bee-themed decor and more pieces for the Alchemist’s Cottage building set.

Palia is still in beta, and this patch seems to be doing two jobs at once: finishing the Elderwood thread and bridging into whatever the spring expansion is about to bring next.
