Outersloth publishes its standard indie funding contract, including revenue split details

Outersloth, the indie funding arm of Among Us developer Innersloth, has put its standard contract out in the open. The company posted the full agreement on its site shortly after discussing its approach at GDC. While none of this is explicitly MMO related, it does shed light into publishing agreements which I personally find fascinating!

According to the official post, Outersloth’s deal includes a 50% revenue share before the project recoups its investment, then 15% after recoup. The company says it’s sharing the contract publicly to push for more developer-friendly terms across the industry.

One notable detail: even if Outersloth only funds a project for specific platforms, it signs for all platforms. In its GDC slides, the reasoning is that developers often only bring a game to consoles when funding is platform-specific, and Outersloth argues it’s helping make development possible in the first place, so it shouldn’t be cut out of later platform deals.

Outersloth also shared some high-level numbers. It says it has invested $19,161,040 across 24 projects since 2022, with a signing percentage of 1.4%, which it claims is slightly above the industry average.

The company reiterates it’s not a publisher and says it doesn’t plan to take IP rights from developers. If you want to read the full paperwork yourself, the funding agreement is available here.
