Nintendo is raising Switch 2 prices in the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan
Nintendo is increasing the price of the Switch 2 in the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan, with the changes rolling out later this year and next. In Japan, the company is also raising prices across the original Switch lineup and Nintendo Switch Online.
According to Nintendo, the changes are being made because of market conditions and the broader global outlook. The company said more regional pricing updates are still coming, with details to be shared by local subsidiaries.
- In Japan, the Switch 2 goes from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980 on May 25, 2026.
- The Japanese-language original Switch models also go up on May 25, 2026: Switch OLED from ¥37,980 to ¥47,980, standard Switch from ¥32,978 to ¥43,980, and Switch Lite from ¥21,978 to ¥29,980.
- In the US, the Switch 2 rises from $449.99 to $499.99 on September 1, 2026.
- In Canada, it goes from $629.99 to $679.99 on September 1, 2026.
- In Europe, the My Nintendo Store price moves from €469.99 to €499.99 on September 1, 2026.
There are a couple of exceptions. Nintendo said the multilingual Switch 2 sold through the My Nintendo Store in Japan will keep its current price. South Korea is also getting price changes later, but Nintendo hasn’t announced those yet.
Japan is also seeing a Nintendo Switch Online price bump on July 1, 2026. The base membership will rise to ¥400 for one month, ¥1,000 for three months, ¥3,000 for 12 months, and ¥5,800 for a 12-month family plan. Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will increase to ¥5,900 for a 12-month individual plan and ¥9,900 for the family option.
This isn’t completely out of nowhere. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa had already said the company wasn’t ruling out hardware price increases because of memory component costs.
