Nexon Lines Up Film and TV Adaptations for ARC Raiders and The Finals
Nexon is moving two of Embark Studios’ shooters toward film and television. The company announced on October 5, 2026 that it has partnered with Chernin Entertainment to develop adaptations of ARC Raiders and The Finals.
Chernin Entertainment, the film and TV label founded by Peter Chernin under The North Road Company, will act as lead producer on both projects. Nexon said Chernin was selected after multiple production companies and studios pursued the rights.
No casting, release window, platform, or format details were announced, so it’s not clear yet whether either game is being planned as a movie, a series, or both. Embark Studios is expected to work with Chernin during development.
ARC Raiders launched in October 2025 and has quickly become one of Nexon’s biggest recent games. The extraction shooter is set on a future Earth where players scavenge the surface while fighting machine enemies and other Raiders. According to Nexon, it has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide and reached more than 700,000 concurrent players across platforms within two weeks of launch. Its next major update, Frozen Trail, is scheduled for October 8.
The Finals is Embark’s free-to-play arena shooter built around a virtual combat game show, with physics-based destruction playing a major role in matches. Nexon says the game has registered more than 30 million players over three years. Its next season is set for October 20.
Chernin’s recent film and TV work includes Backrooms, The Last House, Apex, Chief of War, Truth Be Told, See, The Madness, and Man on Fire. The announcement lands as The North Road Company is in the process of being acquired by Paris-based studio Mediawan.
