Newzoo Projects Global Games Market to Hit $213.9 Billion

Newzoo expects the global games market to grow 6.1% to $213.9 billion, with China and the United States accounting for more than half of consumer spending. The forecast comes from the firm’s Global Games Market Report, which is due to be published in full on September 10.

Mobile is still the biggest piece of the business by a wide margin. Newzoo projects mobile revenue at $121.1 billion, or 57% of the market, up 6.8% year over year. The firm points to higher player spending and the rise of direct-to-consumer platforms as part of that growth.

  • Console revenue is forecast at $46.9 billion, making up 22% of the market and growing 5.1%.
  • PC revenue is expected to reach $45.9 billion, or 21% of the market, with 5.3% year-over-year growth.
  • Mobile players are estimated to reach 3.10 billion in 2026, compared with 977 million PC players and 651 million console players.

On console, Newzoo expects the November launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 to lift full-game spending. The firm says full-game revenue is set for the strongest growth among business models, though microtransactions are expected to retake the top spot overall.

Player growth is slowing, according to the report. Newzoo expects the global player base to reach 4.07 billion by 2029, with growth relying more on keeping and monetizing existing players than bringing entirely new audiences into games. Asia-Pacific remains the largest region, while the Middle East and Africa are growing the fastest.
