Neverwinter’s Masquerade of Liars Returns With a Headless Horseman Faction
Neverwinter’s Halloween event, Masquerade of Liars, is back and running now through Thursday, November 5 at 7:30 a.m. PT. Players can start it by visiting the Masquerade Master at the event dais in Protector’s Enclave, where the daily quests and rewards are laid out.
The main addition this year is a new Contest of Liars faction called Highway Robbery, led by the Headless Horseman. It joins two returning teams: Denizens of the Deep, led by Lloogoon, and Porcelain Patricians, led by the Gentleman Skeleton.
The Contest of Liars works much like before. Pick a team, complete daily tasks, and contribute treats to your faction’s total. That team choice is account-wide, so once you pick on one character, the rest of your account is locked in too. Contributions are also tracked account-wide, which means you can spread the event work across multiple characters if you want.
Daily tasks send players to hub areas to find Spectral Tricksters while wearing their team mask, then ask for tricks or treats. There’s also a combat task that drops treats from defeated enemies, again requiring the mask to be equipped. Since the mask uses the head slot, Cryptic notes that players should be careful when taking it into fights.
Rewards are changing a bit this year. The winning team’s illusion mask won’t be handed out directly. Instead, members of the winning team can claim a Masquerade Veil Choice Pack from the event vendor, with masks from the three active teams. Players on losing teams get a consolation prize with 200 Masquerade Tokens.
The Masquerade Vendor and the latest Magnificent Resurgence Lockbox have also been updated with new head illusion lines. Flickering Vigil illusions come from the event vendor, while Watchful Eye and Requiem’s Echo illusions are in the lockbox alongside the previously released Fox Tail Trail illusions. Bags of Masquerade Tokens are also available through the Zen Market.
