Mortal Online 2’s Next Era of Refinement Patch Heads to PTR November 18

Star Vault has outlined the second patch in Mortal Online 2’s Era of Refinement run, with the PTR planned for November 18. The update is still in active development, so the studio is warning that some features could slip, but the current list includes a major flagging change, deeper house customization, new spells, and several quality-of-life adjustments.

The biggest PvP change is the Aggressive Flag, which will replace the current Criminal Actions toggle. It’s not a PvP opt-in system. Players can still be attacked at any time. Instead, anyone who wants to attack blue players or commit criminal actions will need to toggle the Aggressive Flag first, making them legally attackable before they act.

  • The Aggressive Flag has a short activation delay and a longer removal delay, with timers still subject to tuning.
  • Flagged players become local grey to others and can be attacked preemptively.
  • Player housing will get swappable components, including walls, beams, flooring, ceilings, roofs, and front doors.
  • House components will come from vendors and loot drops, with rare versions planned as collectible finds.
  • Strongholds, keeps, and keep walls are also planned to support the new visual customization system.
  • New utility spells include faster mining and woodcutting, improved fishing bite chances, extra carry weight, a small follower light, and a gravity-reducing spell.

Combat magic is getting attention too. Star Vault listed Blood Sacrifice for Necromancy, Mana Shield, Repelling Ward, and Relinquish Undead, though exact values like mana costs, cast times, and reagent requirements aren’t final yet.

On the quality-of-life side, over-encumbered players will always be able to move slowly instead of getting stuck in place. Potions and bandages should also work at their fastest speed from the action bar without manually putting weapons away first. Book reading speed will no longer scale with Intelligence, which should remove a long-running training penalty for low-Int builds.

The patch also includes a Concentration rework. Instead of hits having a chance to fully cancel a spell, being hit while channeling will reduce the spell’s power, with a minimum effectiveness currently set at 40%. Zoology’s creature damage and defense bonuses are also being moved out of the Profession tree into a new Primary Action skill called Hunting Prowess.

Star Vault is also testing a short-window “anti-zerg” damage reduction system for cases where several players hit one target at nearly the same time. The studio says that feature is still experimental and could change heavily or be removed before release.

CEO Henrik Nyström is scheduled to show more from the patch during a Twitch stream on November 11, one week before the PTR opens.
