Monsters & Memories Adds Archer and Druid in Latest Beta Build
Monsters & Memories has added Archer and Druid to its latest beta build, and the team has published new class deep dives explaining how both are meant to play. The posts follow earlier looks at Wizard and Spellblade, with the current build now covering all four revealed classes.
The Archer deep dive says the class has changed as the combat system has been reworked. One notable cut is the old idea of firing at a reduced rate while moving. Instead, Archers now get Strafing Barrage, an early ability that lets them fire multiple shots while moving and can be upgraded while leveling.
Archers also lean into traps, arrow types, stealth, and mobility. Most traps outside of caltrops are tied to Tinkering, with examples including oil traps, immobilizing traps, alarm traps, and poison gas traps. Players can buy recipes from spell merchants, craft the traps, then learn the related ability. The stealth side is meant to support the sniper feel, but the team says it won’t push into Rogue territory.
Druid is being pitched as a flexible group class rather than a top-end healer, damage dealer, or support specialist. The big mechanic in the Druid deep dive is Seasons, which changes what buffs and tools the Druid has available based on the types of spells they cast.
Summer is focused on healing, while Winter carries more of the damage kit. Spring and Autumn sit closer to the middle. Druids can also use a special cooldown-based buff to jump directly into Summer or Winter when needed. Each season brings its own angle, and groups with multiple Druids can have them operating in different seasons for different benefits.
The latest beta build notes are also live with more detail on the current build and the four classes now available for testing.
