Microsoft Offers Voluntary Buyouts to Around 60,000 Employees, Including Xbox Staff

Microsoft has offered voluntary buyout packages to around 60,000 employees, including staff in its Xbox division. The offer covers a little over a quarter of the company’s workforce and gives eligible employees the option to leave with a severance package.

A Microsoft spokesperson described the package as similar to the company’s standard severance. According to reporting on the internal memo, employees who take the offer would receive at least 60 days of base pay, with some eligible for up to 39 weeks depending on seniority and tenure.

Bloomberg reported that Xbox employees are included, along with workers tied to Windows, Copilot, and Microsoft’s finance teams. Xbox has been a focal point of job cuts at Microsoft in recent weeks.

Microsoft made a similar voluntary exit offer in April.
