Microsoft Is Raising Xbox Series X/S Prices Again in August
Microsoft is raising Xbox console prices worldwide starting August 2, with the biggest jump hitting the Xbox Series X. The company says higher storage and memory costs are behind the increase, though it has only shared U.S. pricing so far.
According to the official post, the 512GB models are going up by $100, while 1TB models are going up by $150. Microsoft is also pulling the 2TB model from sale.
- Xbox Series S 512GB: $399.99 to $499.99
- Xbox Series S 1TB: $449.99 to $599.99
- Xbox Series X 1TB Digital: $599.99 to $749.99
- Xbox Series X 1TB: $649.99 to $799.99
Microsoft said it had hoped to avoid another price hike after raising prices last October, but claimed console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5 times. The company also said it expects another doubling by fall 2027.
The post points players toward a few lower-cost options, including buy now, pay later through the Microsoft Store, interest-free financing through Amazon, and refurbished consoles. Microsoft says Certified Refurbished Consoles are available through Microsoft Stores for up to $100 off MSRP.
The increase comes during a rough stretch for console and PC hardware pricing in general, with component costs also affecting other upcoming gaming devices.
