Lord of the Rings Online disables Lua-based UI scaling again while it works on compatibility fixes
The Lord of the Rings Online has temporarily disabled Lua support for UI scaling in its latest patch. Standing Stone Games says it needs more compatibility work and bug fixes before it can safely turn the feature back on.
According to the patch notes, the team is trying to reduce how strict the “order of operations” requirements are for common UI functions, calling out SetParent, SetVisible, SetSize, and SetRotation. The plan is to bring those changes to future Bullroarer (test server) previews before it returns to the live game.
Separately, LOTRO players have also been chewing on what parts of Middle-earth might be next, especially after the studio previously said the next expansion will head back to the original landmass following years spent around Umbar. Developer Matt “Scenario” Elliot dropped into a long-running “where should we go next” forum thread and pushed back a bit on the idea of only prioritizing the most lore-heavy, heavily referenced regions first.
In his reply, he notes there aren’t many major book-referenced regions left to burn through, and suggests the team may need to pace those locations out and mix them with less well-known but still noted areas.
For now, the immediate, practical takeaway is simple: if you were relying on Lua-driven UI scaling tweaks, they’re off again until SSG finishes the compatibility pass.
