Hytale’s Update 3 test patches are out, with taming and map markers ahead of next week’s release

Hytale’s full set of Update 3 “pre-release” patches is now live on the game’s public testing build, giving players a pretty clear look at what’s landing in the main update. Based on the latest developer posts, Update 3 is currently expected to roll out next week, assuming everything in testing holds together.

Hypixel Studios has been pushing these changes out in weekly chunks ahead of the bigger patch, using the pre-release build to gather bug reports and feedback earlier.

The first Update 3 pre-release (dated January 29) leaned more on fixes, but it did add a handy navigation feature: player-placed map markers. You can drop custom markers anywhere, tweak their names/icons/colors, and share them with other players in multiplayer.

The February 5 pre-release was the more “stuff-heavy” one. It added more Lime block variants, changed up how Dough and its required Tankard are made, and brought in the Tier 2 Furnace. It also added new Taiga spawn locations, plus some general quality-of-life updates like window size settings, UI tweaks, avatar presets, and a new fire spread system.

The last pre-release patch is the big one for moment-to-moment play. Taming is in, letting you use food to domesticate certain friendly animals so you can do things like pet, milk, shear, or mount them. It also adds Sickles for faster crop harvesting and includes warnings when you load into modded worlds that are missing required mods.

Details for that final test patch, along with the “next week” timing note, were shared in the post for the last pre-release update.
