Funcom says Dune: Awakening’s Polar Cap map is not part of Water Wars
Funcom is trying to clear up confusion around Dune: Awakening’s next updates. In a new message to players, the studio said some fans had assumed the upcoming Polar Cap map would arrive as part of the Water Wars DLC, but that’s not the plan.
Instead, Funcom says Water Wars and the Polar Cap are separate pieces of content tied to different updates. The post was framed as a reset on expectations, with the studio spelling out what’s actually coming in the next couple of patches and what players shouldn’t expect to see bundled together.
That matters because Dune: Awakening has been building toward both additions, and the overlap in messaging appears to have left some players with the impression they were part of the same drop. Funcom’s latest note is basically a correction: Water Wars is one thing, Polar Cap is another.
The studio didn’t present this as a delay announcement so much as a clarification, but the practical takeaway is the same for players waiting on the new map. If you were expecting Polar Cap to land alongside Water Wars, that’s no longer the expectation Funcom wants set.
Dune: Awakening is Funcom’s open-world survival MMO set on Arrakis, with the usual mix of harvesting, base building, PvP pressure, and political faction conflict. More detailed timing for both updates may need to wait until Funcom shares patch-specific rollout plans.
