Frosthaven adds three new heroes and an Algox storyline in Legacy of the Algox update

Frosthaven’s latest Early Access update, Legacy of the Algox, is now live on Steam. It expands the tactical RPG with three more playable heroes, a new story arc focused on the Algox, and additional places and activities to tackle.

The update is built around the Algox, a yeti-like people with a shamanistic culture. The new storyline puts players in the middle of tensions between two rival clans, the Icespeakers and Snowspeakers, with your party working to resolve the conflict.

On the gameplay side, Legacy of the Algox adds three heroes to unlock, bringing the game’s roster up to 14 playable characters on the road to a planned 17 at full launch. The new characters are:

  • Shackles, who can redirect damage away from allies and back onto enemies
  • Astral, an element-focused hero that can damage enemies and heal teammates
  • Drill, a machine built from “Unfettered parts” that can soak hits while the team plays the objective

Astral’s kit also introduces a mechanic called Infusions, described as persistent battlefield effects tied to the game’s card-based abilities. In practice, that means you can stack ongoing bonuses while continuing to play other cards, letting effects build up over time.

Beyond the new heroes and storyline, the patch also brings in new biomes and town hall challenges. Arc Games and Snapshot Games previously outlined the update in their announcement, and it’s available now in Frosthaven on Steam Early Access.
