Fractured Conquest dev says recent closed test leaned more on crafting than PvP
Happy Cauldron Games says Fractured Conquest’s recent 24-hour closed playtest went well, though the big takeaway wasn’t really large-scale PvP. Instead, players spent much of the test gathering materials, crafting gear, and working through the game’s survival loop.
That’s notable because Fractured Conquest is being pitched as a PvP warfare MMO. Based on the studio’s early read of the test, though, the hands-on experience seems to have centered more on building up characters and resources than on constant fighting.
The playtest ran earlier this month and followed reporting from last month that the game would hold a one-day closed session. Happy Cauldron hasn’t framed that shift as a problem, at least not publicly. If anything, it suggests the team got useful feedback on the parts of the game players were actually engaging with when left to their own devices.
Fractured Conquest blends PvP conflict with gathering, crafting, and progression systems, so this kind of result isn’t completely surprising. In games like this, players usually need to establish a base of resources before the warfare side really kicks in. Still, it’s a useful snapshot of where the game appears to be right now.
The developer hasn’t shared a broader release update here, but the test results do give a clearer picture of what players focused on during this early build. For now, it looks like Fractured Conquest’s crafting and gathering loop may be further along, or at least more immediately compelling, than its headline PvP battles.
