Final Fantasy XIV Players Get One Day of Game Time After Login Suspension
Square Enix is giving eligible Final Fantasy XIV players one day of game time after an unexpected suspension of new logins from Oct. 21 to Oct. 22, 2026. The publisher says the downtime was tied to an urgent response to a critical vulnerability in the PHP programming language.
The compensation applies to Final Fantasy XIV service accounts on the global version that had the full game registered and an active subscription on either Oct. 21 or Oct. 22, PDT. Square Enix says the game time will be granted sequentially starting Oct. 28 at 12:00 a.m. PDT, and the full rollout is expected to take two to three days because of the number of accounts involved.
For players on recurring subscriptions, the current subscription end date will be extended by one day. Paid optional services, including additional retainer subscriptions, will also be extended by one day. Accounts without recurring payments will simply have one day of game time added.
Square Enix noted that compensation may vary outside the global version, since login impact and applicable laws differ by operating region.
The company also said the server backup feature for save data, which had been temporarily suspended during the same security response, resumed around 1:35 a.m. PDT on Oct. 23 after security enhancement work was completed.
