ESO Raises Tamriel Tome Rollover Cap Ahead of Season Two
ZeniMax Online Studios is making a few notable changes to The Elder Scrolls Online’s Tamriel Tomes system, with some already live in Update 51 and more arriving when Season Two starts on October 21.
The biggest change is the end-of-season Tome Points rollover cap. Players will now be able to carry over up to 5,000 Tome Points, up from 2,000. That’s enough to immediately unlock up to two and a half pages of the next season’s Tome if you’ve been saving points.
Any points over the new cap will convert into gold at a better rate, too. The conversion is increasing from 10 gold per point to 25 gold per point. ZeniMax is also tightening how capped-currency rewards work. If a Tome reward would push you past the cap for something like Transmute Crystals, you won’t be able to claim it, and the automatic end-of-season claim process will follow the same rule.
Weekly Challenge rerolls have also been adjusted. As of Update 51, rerolling now starts at 500 gold and climbs through 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500, 5,000, and 10,000 gold. The idea is to make early rerolls less punishing while still putting a limit on repeated fishing for better tasks.
Season Two will also broaden the kinds of Weekly Challenges players see. Instead of separate harvesting tasks asking for 90 resources, for example, there’ll be a single challenge to gather 80 resources through fishing, hunting, or harvesting. Seasonal and event-themed challenges aren’t going away, but the pool should include more general gameplay objectives.
Completed Weekly Challenges will award 400, 450, or 500 Tome Points depending on the estimated effort involved. ZeniMax says that should narrow the gap between easier and harder challenges without changing the overall pace of Tome progression.
Update 51 also cleaned up some smaller Tome issues, including clearer HUD icons, automatic unpinning for completed pinned challenges, and a Daily Login Seasonal Challenge display change so it no longer suggests a 99-claim limit.
