ESO PTS Adds Season Zero’s Night Market Event Zone Ahead of April Launch

Zenimax Online Studios has pushed more Season Zero content to The Elder Scrolls Online Public Test Server, including the first “Event Zone” called The Night Market. It’s part of the game’s next phase of updates, arriving alongside Update 49 testing.

ESO has traditionally delivered its big yearly Chapter plus smaller DLC drops, but the studio is shifting toward a seasonal structure that leaves more room for limited-time experiments and repeatable content. The Night Market is being positioned as a tougher-than-usual zone built around faction competition and challenging PvE, and it’s also a test case for how these Event Zones might work in future seasons.

About the Night Market: The zone is designed around contested resources and higher difficulty than a standard overland area. Players can expect multiple districts, tougher enemies roaming the streets, and instanced encounters aimed at small groups.

  • New Event Zone: The Night Market is now playable on the PTS as Season Zero’s first Event Zone.
  • Zone structure: Three themed districts, each featuring bosses and difficult enemies throughout the area.
  • Group content: Each district includes specialized instances with four-player boss encounters.
  • Dates: Season Zero is scheduled to begin April 2. The Night Market is slated to open April 29 and run for seven weeks, ending June 17.
  • Replay angle: When the Event Zone returns in a later season, players will be able to choose a different faction for a different perspective.
  • PTS event: This week’s test build also includes the Jester’s Festival.
  • Currency change: With event tickets being phased out, the PTS is also introducing players to trade bars.
  • Next on PTS: A simplified version of the Tamriel Tomes system, described as a battle pass-style feature, is expected to hit the PTS next week for testing ahead of its Season Zero release.

Now more than a decade old, The Elder Scrolls Online has increasingly leaned on repeatable systems and account-wide quality-of-life updates to keep long-running characters relevant between story releases. Season Zero’s mix of experimental zones and new progression systems looks like the next step in that approach.
