Entropia Universe is moving to Unreal Engine 5, but there’s no release window yet

Entropia Universe is getting a major tech overhaul. MindArk says the long-running sci-fi sandbox MMO is moving to Unreal Engine 5, with the shift also tied to rebuilt core gameplay systems and backend changes meant to better support the game going forward.

What’s not clear yet is when players will actually get it. The studio said existing game worlds have already been imported into a transitional UE5 client, but it didn’t give a timeline for the full rollout.

The announcement came alongside a recent round of smaller updates and in-game events. According to the Steam post, MindArk is framing this as part of a broader push to pick up the pace on content and technical improvements.

There’s also a teaser trailer, though it doesn’t say much beyond showing off some environments, enemies, and a bit of the visual upgrade. So for now, the big takeaway is the engine move itself, not a detailed roadmap.

Entropia Universe has been around for years as a sci-fi MMO with a real-cash economy, and that side of the game has often drawn more attention than its updates. This time, the headline is more straightforward: a UE5 transition is in the works, and MindArk says the foundation for it is already being built.
