Enshrouded teases combat overhaul in Update 8: Forging the Path
Keen Games has shared a first look at Update 8 for Enshrouded, and this one is focused on combat. The early access survival sandbox is getting a batch of fighting changes in Forging the Path, including heavy attacks for every weapon type and new weapon-specific skills that charge up during combat.
There’s still no release date for the update. For now, the studio has only outlined the changes in a teaser video, with a second video planned later to cover skill tree and character progression updates.
The biggest additions are straightforward. Heavy attacks will give all weapons a harder-hitting option, while the new weapon skills kick in after filling a meter by attacking enemies. Some of those abilities also deal area damage.
Keen is also making a bunch of smaller combat adjustments that could matter just as much in practice. Attack animations should no longer shove players off ledges, dodge rolls are getting invincibility frames through the skill tree, and jumping and crashdown attacks are being tuned to feel more reliable.
Enemy behavior is changing too. According to the combat teaser, enemies will try to dodge ranged attacks more often, and aggro is being adjusted in a way that should make stealth play more useful.
That follows the game’s previous major update, which centered on water features instead of combat. This time, the focus is clearly on making fights feel better moment to moment. Players who want a closer look can check the teaser video, though Keen hasn’t said when Forging the Path will actually go live.
