Embers Adrift’s October Patch Reworks Options and Cleans Up Trading

Stormhaven Studios has rolled out the October patch for Embers Adrift, with the biggest changes focused on the options menu, graphics setup, and player trading. The update also adds a new Torch cosmetic slot and fixes several smaller issues tied to diving, navigation, UI behavior, and collision.

The new auto-detect settings button is probably the most practical addition for players who don’t want to fiddle with every graphics option by hand. It checks your GPU, video memory, display resolution, and system RAM, then recommends a Rendering Budget and related settings before applying anything. New installs will run auto-detect on first launch, while existing players keep their current setup unless they choose to use it.

  • The options menu has been reorganized and now includes per-setting reset buttons, clearer keybind sections, and confirmation prompts for things like auto-detect, keybind conflicts, and fullscreen resolution changes.
  • Fullscreen and windowed modes now remember separate resolutions. Fullscreen resolution changes also revert after 15 seconds if they aren’t confirmed.
  • On macOS, fullscreen now uses the system’s native fullscreen mode.
  • Trading should behave better when two players send requests at the same time, when someone walks away, logs out, or when a request times out.
  • Trade chat messages now name the other player, and failed trades give clearer reasons instead of a generic result code.
  • Diving-related UI got a few tweaks, including tooltips that show whether backpacks or group members are above or below you underwater.

There are a few world and combat-adjacent fixes too. Target reticles are now double-sided, NPC navigation and cave collision have been improved, and an underwater area that was meant to be blocked off now is. The patch also adjusts Ashen kill requirements for Redshore Bulletin Board tasks and lets Forgotten Depths III bags be dragged underwater.

Smaller fixes include a bug where windows could become “ghosts,” navigation problems in Grizzled Peaks, and a couple of text errors.
