Embers Adrift Returns After Multi-Day Hardware Outage
Embers Adrift is back online after a hardware failure took the indie MMORPG offline for several days, marking Stormhaven Studios’ longest unscheduled outage in roughly four years of service.
The issue started around October 6, when the game’s bare-metal zone server failed. Stormhaven later said the host confirmed a dead motherboard, but didn’t have a spare available. A replacement was supposed to arrive sooner, but delayed shipping pushed the return past the original midweek target and into Friday, October 9.
To make up for the downtime, Stormhaven added seven free subscription days for active subscribers. Free-trial players who were still inside their trial window also got a seven-day extension. Every character logged in with full rested status and a full Ember Stone, too.
The studio also went ahead with a planned custom GM event after the servers came back online.
The outage landed at a rough time for Stormhaven’s schedule. The team had been working toward Forgotten Depths III, which was aimed at October 13, just ahead of Embers Adrift’s fourth anniversary on October 15. It also follows another major host-related disruption earlier in 2026 that forced the studio into an emergency migration.
