Embers Adrift Patch Makes Bulletin Board Tasks Less Repetitive and Smooths Out Combat Reactions
Embers Adrift has a new November 2026 update out, and the main player-facing change is a useful one: bulletin boards now remember which tasks you’ve already completed, even after zoning or logging out.
Previously, that history reset when you left a zone, which meant players could keep pulling the same board tasks while other available ones never showed up. With the new system, a board won’t offer a completed task again until you’ve worked through every eligible task of that type on that board. After that, the selection resets.
Combat also got a visual pass. Hit reactions are no longer a simple on-or-off animation. Critical hits trigger the full reaction, heavier hits and abilities land with more force than auto attacks, and glancing blows or damage-over-time effects produce smaller reactions. The timing varies a bit too, so repeated hits shouldn’t look as identical.
Your own attacks will now always cause a reaction from the target. Reactions from other players are still throttled, so enemies in group fights shouldn’t spend the whole encounter twitching nonstop.
The patch also includes several fixes and performance tweaks:
- Rock LOD popping in Grizzled Peaks has been fixed.
- The self icon panel should now collapse properly after buffs or debuffs expire.
- Zone line visual effects should display again.
- Friends and guildmates should no longer see a timed-out player as online until that player logs back in.
- The crafting window now updates material counts when items move in or out of the personal bank.
- A new High Resolution Night Sky option has been added, trading extra VRAM use for a sharper star map.
- Movable windows should better hold their positions after UI scale, resolution, or window size changes.
The developers also say the update includes performance work aimed at improving frame rates for everyone, with CPU-limited players typically seeing a modest gain of a few percent. UI elements and nameplates that aren’t visible now do less work, sky lighting and reflections update less often, and distant grass effects around resource nodes turn off until players are close enough to see them. On macOS, the team fixed a recurring stutter tied to a Steam status check that was running every frame.
