Elder Scrolls Online previews class mastery system ahead of Update 50

ZeniMax Online Studios has shared another look at what’s coming in The Elder Scrolls Online’s Update 50, this time focusing on the new class mastery system. The update is set to arrive on June 8 and will continue the game’s current “Season of the Worm Cult” rollout.

Class mastery is meant to give players another layer of progression tied to their chosen class. ZeniMax hasn’t framed it as a replacement for existing builds so much as an extra system that adds more class-specific customization on top of what players already use.

The studio is still in preview mode here, so the full details haven’t all been laid out yet. What is confirmed is that class mastery will launch as part of Update 50, rather than later in the season, which makes it one of the bigger gameplay additions in this patch.

For ESO players, that puts a bit more weight on June 8 than usual. Update 50 is effectively the patch closing out the back half of the game’s current seasonal content, and class mastery looks like one of its headline features.

ESO has been gradually shifting to this seasonal structure instead of the older annual chapter model, so Update 50 is also another marker in that broader transition. More specifics on how class mastery works in practice will likely come as ZeniMax gets closer to release.
