Elder Scrolls Online brings back Cyrodiil’s Vengeance test with bigger AoE caps
The Elder Scrolls Online has kicked off another Cyrodiil’s Vengeance PvP test, and this one tweaks how area-of-effect damage works. From now through Monday, April 27, offensive AoE abilities in the test campaign can hit up to six targets instead of the usual three.
According to the official post, the idea is to speed up fights and put more pressure on AoE healing in large battles. It’s a limited test rather than a full rules change, so for now it’s only happening in the special Vengeance campaign.
Joining works the same way as past Cyrodiil’s Vengeance runs. Players need to pick the event campaign from the Alliance War menu, and characters must be between level 10 and 50 to get in.
ZeniMax says this round is smaller in scope than earlier tests, which suggests it’s looking at a pretty specific set of combat results. For players who follow ESO’s PvP experiments, this is basically another pass at figuring out how to make big Cyrodiil fights feel better without changing the live game outright.
Cyrodiil’s Vengeance has been used before as a testing ground for alternate PvP rulesets, especially around performance and combat behavior in crowded battles. This time, the focus is squarely on whether doubling the offensive AoE target cap changes the pace of fights in a useful way.
