Dune: Awakening Console Version Will Be Playable at Gamescom

Dune: Awakening is heading to Gamescom 2026 with its first playable console build. Funcom says attendees will be able to try the open-world survival MMO in Hall 6 at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, from August 26-30.

The Gamescom demo will also feature the game’s single-player mode, according to the announcement. Funcom is also setting up a themed Arrakis photo area at the booth, though the main draw is clearly the chance to see how Dune: Awakening feels on a controller.

Level Infinite’s Gamescom lineup also includes two other hands-on stops. Crytek will show a preview of a new Hunt: Showdown 1896 in-game event, with developer meet-and-greets, in-game items, merch, cosplay, and a Blood Moon-themed photo setup planned for the booth.

Remedy’s Control: Resonant will also be playable publicly for the first time at the show. The action RPG sequel is currently slated for September 24 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Players take on the role of Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden’s brother from the original Control, in a twisted version of Manhattan.

For Dune: Awakening, this is a notable showing because the game has mostly been seen through its PC-focused survival MMO pitch so far. Gamescom should give console players their first real look at how Funcom is adapting Arrakis for living room play.
