Co-op pirate survival game Windrose hits Steam Next Fest with a demo and 1M wishlists
Windrose, an in-development co-op PvE survival sandbox from Windrose Crew, showed up at this year’s Steam Next Fest with a playable demo. According to the announcement, the demo is meant to be an early slice of the game, built around a small set of islands and some tutorial-style quests.
The pitch is “Age of Piracy” survival with up to four players. You’ll be doing the usual survival loop stuff (gathering, fighting, looting) while exploring both land and sea, with boss fights inspired by real-world and mythical characters. The world is made up of procedurally generated biomes, so the layout should shift between runs.
In the demo, Windrose Crew says players get access to the first three islands, plus a handful of early quests and a taste of the game’s core systems. Co-op works through hosted sessions right now, but the studio also admits there are connectivity issues at the moment. Dedicated servers are planned for the game’s eventual early access launch, though a date for that wasn’t included here.
Windrose Crew also confirmed the game has passed one million wishlists on Steam. The studio shared the milestone in a separate Steam post.
