Camelot Unchained Hits Steam Early Access on June 2
Camelot Unchained is finally heading to Steam. City State Entertainment says its realm-vs-realm MMORPG will launch in Steam Early Access on Tuesday, June 2 at 2:00 PM EDT, more than a decade after the project first started drawing attention from MMO players.
According to the official post, the Steam launch isn’t being treated as a finished release. The studio says development still has “a long way to go,” but it’s opening the game to a wider audience while continuing work on its larger RvR-focused vision.
The NDA will also lift when Camelot Unchained goes live on Steam. That applies going forward only, so anything covered by the previous NDA still stays private. Once Early Access begins, players will be able to stream, record, and share new gameplay footage.
Existing backers won’t need to buy the game again. Accounts in good standing that already own Camelot Unchained will keep access through the Unchained Launcher at no extra cost. Previously promised Beta 3 keys are still planned, though they won’t be Steam keys. City State says those will be redeemed through the Camelot Unchained store once the store and key system are ready.
The studio is also planning launch-weekend playtests before the Steam opening, giving backers a chance to jump in and fight the developers. After Early Access begins, City State says it’s aiming for new builds every other week, with larger monthly updates when possible.
