Brighter Shores Adds Shipwreck World Event With Salvage Rewards and Leaderboards
Brighter Shores has launched its first Shipwreck world event today, September 21, with the first run starting at 10:00 UTC and returning every three hours after that. There’s no cap on how many players can sign up for a time slot, though each instance is split into games of up to 30 players.
Shipwreck runs for 30 minutes. Players earn points during the event, then get XP and Salvage Tiles once it ends. Those tiles can be spent at the Shipwreck world event shop on upgrades for future runs, plus transmogs for anyone who wants the nautical disaster look.
The event has two layers of competition. Each individual Shipwreck game has its own leaderboard, with bonus rewards for players near the top. There’s also a global Shipwreck leaderboard tracking the highest scores across all Shipwreck games.
To enter, players need to be a Milestone 1 Fisher and complete the Shipwreck tutorial first. The entrance is at the Get Wrecked Salvage Company, located off Stony Coast in the north-west of Hopeport. Since the tutorial is required, the studio recommends getting it done before the time slot you actually want to play.
The same update also makes a few combat and quality-of-life changes:
- Strength potion charges can now stack up to 15, so players can top off a partly used potion without wasting the rest.
- Items can now be picked up and dropped during combat.
- The world event interface now shows the current UTC time.
- Frame rate has been improved in Shipwreck rooms.
- Crenopolis has had minor changes ahead of a coming city shortcuts update.
A handful of bugs were fixed too, including a Shipwreck issue where an NPC revealed by a telescope could appear outside lifebuoy range, a stuck notification count tied to abandoning the tutorial, and an error caused by dragging an item onto a locked provisions belt slot.
