Black Desert’s Family-Wide Life Skill Gear System Is Live on NA and EU Servers

Pearl Abyss has pushed Black Desert’s September 3, 2026 NA and EU update live, bringing the long-planned family-wide Life Skill gear integration after maintenance. According to the official patch notes, Life Skill tools, clothes, accessories, artifacts, and matchlocks are now managed through one integrated gear UI.

The big practical change is that Life Skill gear is no longer tied to one character in the same way. Characters across a Family can benefit from shared Life Skill gear effects, and players can save gear setups for individual Life Skills instead of constantly moving items around.

  • Life Skill gear now has its own integrated UI with slots for each Life Skill category.
  • Accessories, alchemy stones, and the new Evergreen Orb only need to be equipped once to apply across Life Skills. Other gear is still equipped per category.
  • Life Skill alchemy stones can now be used by Season Characters.
  • Matchlocks no longer take up main or sub-weapon outfit slots and can be equipped while in combat stance.
  • DP and Max Weight Limit Increase effects have been removed from Life Skill gear.
  • Affected equipped Life Skill items were unequipped during maintenance and sent to Heidel Storage. Copied items were removed.

Alchemy stones also changed in a major way. Durability has been removed from combat and Life alchemy stones, and their effects now apply passively while equipped. That means no more toggling them on or recharging them. Pearl Abyss also removed spirit-stone crafting, related quests, and recharge items such as Mystical Spirit Powder and Vell’s Fine Powder, with Silver compensation attached.

The update adds the Evergreen Orb, a new Life Skill accessory that replaces Dawn Crystal – Life EXP. It’s enhanced with Evergreen Shards, has a 100% enhancement success rate, and reaches Life EXP +90% at +15. Existing JIN, BON, and WON Dawn Crystal – Life EXP items were converted into Evergreen Shards.

Pearl Abyss also introduced Merv’s Silver Needle and Knots, a system for extracting functional effects from certain Pearl Life Skill costumes and applying them to Life Skill gear instead. Merv’s Silver Needle costs 10,000,000 Silver from Old Moon Managers. Activating an extracted Knot effect requires using a Black Spirit’s Claw on a Pearl outfit.

There are some knock-on changes too. Several Life Skill Lightstone combinations were removed, including Canine Tooth, Blacksmith’s Blessing, and Refreshing Dream. Golden Coral Belts and related variants can no longer be used, enhanced, or traded, and they’re scheduled for removal during September 10 maintenance with Silver paid out based on their value.

Outside Life Skills, the patch includes class tuning for Tamer, Maehwa, Striker, Drakania, and Scholar, plus fixes for Agent, Guardian, and Seraph. Tier 1 Node Wars received extra stat caps and skill restrictions aimed at letting PEN (V) Tuvala players compete, while Conquest War gates got tougher through higher DP and reduced player damage. Pearl Abyss also shared the coupon code FLORALIGHTSTONES, good for a Resplendent Lightstone of Flora until October 1, 2026 before maintenance.
