ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom Targets Steam Launch in Q2 2027

Kakao Games has shown off the official logo and key visual for ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom, the PC MMORPG currently in development at XL Games. The publisher also confirmed that the game is planned for a global launch primarily through Steam in the second quarter of 2027.

The new branding keeps ties to the original ArcheAge while leaning harder into the sequel’s ocean theme. The logo uses sea, navigation, and compass imagery around the “S” in Strait, pointing to the game’s focus on sailing and naval conflict.

The key visual features five main characters connected to the game’s lore, along with a fleet moving across open water. Kakao Games says Strait of Freedom will build on the original game’s setting while expanding from land-based combat into large-scale naval warfare.

ArcheAge S is being led by XL Games producer Kim Kyung-tae, who worked as the first planning team lead and producer on the original ArcheAge. Kakao says the project is meant to carry over the identity of the first game while reworking systems and content for current MMORPG players.

More details should arrive soon. Kakao Games plans to release a developer preview video later in September, featuring comments from the development team, core content details, and actual in-game footage.
