ArcheAge Chronicles Early Access Plans Now Include Removing Gender-Locked Classes
ArcheAge Chronicles has outlined what players can expect from Early Access, and one notable plan has changed: the team now intends to remove class gender locks. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham covered the update in the game’s second Developer Update, published on October 21, 2026.
That’s a shift from the studio’s earlier stance, where gender-locked classes were expected to remain in place for Early Access. The new update says player feedback helped shape the decision, alongside planned work on weapon variety, combat balance, and progression.
Early Access will include three regions of Auroria, with quests, combat-focused activities, and multiple playstyles available at launch. The team is framing this as the starting point rather than the full game, with more updates planned after players get in.
The game will use a buy-to-play model for Early Access, though the Steam page still lists the release date as to be announced. A free Steam Next Fest demo went live on October 19, giving players an early chance to try it before the paid Early Access release arrives.
