Anvil Empires resurfaces with new character customization, gear slots, and a deeper underworld

Siege Camp has shared a small but notable update on Anvil Empires, its medieval persistent war MMO. After a pretty quiet stretch, the studio posted a new development recap covering character visuals, equipment changes, and an expansion to the game’s underworld area.

According to the official post, randomly generated player-controlled NPC avatars now pull from a wider mix of hairstyles, skin tones, and body shapes. Players can set some preferences, but the idea is that new characters should look more distinct from each other instead of coming out nearly identical.

The update also adds more options for named avatars, which are the game’s more permanent characters. Siege Camp says these characters now have extra gear slots, plus separate clothing slots for body and legs. The studio also showed off new armor sets and a higher-tier batch of weapons, including a spear, sword, and shield.

Those superior weapons are tied to resources found in the underworld, which has been expanded as part of the same update. Siege Camp says the area now includes new materials to gather, a second deeper layer, and new dangers, including additional animals.

There’s still no word on when players will actually get their hands on these changes. The post doesn’t include a test date, update window, or broader roadmap. So for now, it’s mostly a look at what the team has been building behind the scenes.

Anvil Empires comes from the developers of Foxhole and is built around large-scale warfare in a persistent medieval setting. If you’ve been waiting for signs of progress, this is at least a fresh one, even if it’s short on timing.
