Originally launched under the name Ragnarok Online: Valkyrie Uprising, this title was positioned as a mobile-friendly companion experience for Ragnarok Online players who wanted something closer to RO’s classic formula on Android and iOS. It was developed under Gravity’s umbrella (as the creator of the original RO) and released in North America on April 11, 2013 with Gravity and Neocyon handling publishing duties.
The game began with six servers, but as the community shrank over time, those servers were consolidated into three on May 13, 2015. A major rebranding arrived with the Path of Heroes update in July 2014, which is why the game is often referenced under multiple names. In addition to Valkyrie Uprising and Path of Heroes, it has also been associated with other regional titles such as Ragnarok Online: The Rebellion of Valkyrie and Ragnarok Online: War of Gods. The service ultimately ended when the game shut down on December 27, 2018.
