Osiris: New Dawn Overview
Osiris: New Dawn frames its survival loop around a crash-landing scenario on a hostile extraterrestrial planet, mixing solitary exploration with optional colony-scale multiplayer. The core rhythm is familiar to genre fans, gather resources, craft tools, establish a safe base, then push outward for rarer materials, but the presentation aims for a cinematic, space-film tone with harsh terrain, big skies, and nighttime threats that feel considerably more dangerous than daytime scouting.
A big part of the appeal is the gradual escalation from “barely surviving” to operating something closer to a functioning outpost. As you stabilize food production and secure steady supplies, you can start investing in equipment that widens your reach, vehicles for longer trips, and mechanical helpers (including drones and heavier machines) that reduce the grind and add utility during expeditions. Whether you play alone or with others, the game leans into that sense of building a foothold on a world that does not want you there.
Multiplayer is positioned as more than simple co-op. Players can form groups, establish shared colonies, and contest land and resources against rival settlements, which puts pressure on defenses and logistics rather than just personal gear. Beyond combat, the exploration angle is also emphasized, with strange wildlife, hostile creatures, and the promise of discovering traces of earlier human missions while expanding across the wider alien system. Some creatures can even be tamed, giving you another way to prepare for travel and danger.

Development History / Background:
Osiris: New Dawn is being developed and published by Fenix Fire, an independent studio established in 2010 by a husband-and-wife team with professional development experience dating back to 2000. The studio’s prior work includes Source and Roboto, along with licensed projects created in collaboration with other nearby developers. The game was revealed on August 19, 2016, leading into a planned showing at PAX 2016, and the team described a creative focus on capturing the feel of big-budget science fiction films rather than directly modeling the design after other survival games. Osiris: New Dawn is slated for Steam Early Access on September 28, 2016, with a full release planned later for PC and future versions intended for Xbox One and PS4.
